FAQs

It’s okay to be a little nervous. It can be anxiety-provoking to reach out for help, to come to a new place, and to meet a new person. This page is used to answer some frequently asked questions to help put you more at ease regarding the process.

What should I expect in my first session?

A warm, welcoming environment where we will begin to build a therapeutic relationship.

What if I do not have any serious mental health issues?

Counseling is an opportunity for a deep reflection of self. It is a safe place to explore relationship patterns, coping patterns, goals/desires, struggles, and more. Everyone’s reasons for seeking services are different. My goal is to meet you exactly where you are, and accompany you on the counseling journey.

What if I do not connect with my counselor?

Excellent question! The therapeutic relationship is so vital to the counseling process, that if you do not connect with your counselor, it would be helpful to communicate that so other options can be explored.

Do you offer online therapy?

Yes! I use a HIPAA-compliant program to meet with clients virtually.

How frequent are sessions?

This depends entirely on what your needs and goals are in therapy. After our initial session, I will be able to give you an idea of what I would recommend. We will work together to create a plan that works for you.

Do you take insurance?

I accept the following insurances: Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, United Healthcare, and Medicaid.

Some people choose to opt-out of using insurance or do not have insurance, which is also acceptable. My private pay rates are $150 for the initial session and $140 for all following sessions.

Will what I say in our sessions be confidential?

Yes! What we discuss in sessions will be kept confidential with the following exceptions:

  • Threat of harm to others
  • Threat of harm to self
  • Suspected child or elder abuse (vulnerable population)
  • By court order
  • Per your voluntary signed release

What if I am having a crisis?

If you are experiencing an emergency, you need to immediately call 9-1-1.
